Lourmarin to Cucuron. 10km 2.5hrs

Provence Small Group ToursA gentle walk through the countryside of the southern Luberon. The route passes through olive groves and woods. At the half way point clients will have the opportunity to explore the charming village of Vaugines and enjoy a drink in the café. Heading onwards the route passes a beautiful church surrounded by centuries old plane trees, before climbing into the Provencal countryside. There are panaromic views of Mont Saint Victoire. The route then descends into the village of Cucuron, where a well earned glass of rose next to the etang (pictured) is recommended.

3

Cucuron to Buoux 15 km 4.5 hours

One of the longer and most beautiful legs of the walking holiday, this hike takes clients out into the depths of the Luberon regional nature park. Look out for Egyptian vultures and Bonelli Eagles as you follow the trace of the Aigue Brun to arrive at a beautiful mountain lodge. (as featured in the video)

4

Buoux to Apt, 15kms 4 hours

Another beautiful day out deep in the Luberon countryside. The route leads north towards the regional capital of Apt, through vineyards, olive groves and fields of lavender. Approaching Apt there are sweeping views of Mont Ventoux, the white giant of Provence. This mountain is a renowned climb in the Tour de France and also  home to two ski resorts in the winter.

5

Apt to Roussillon 10km 2 hours

The hike runs along the Cavalon river valley. Views to either side of the Luberon and  Mont Ventoux are spectacular. The hike finishes with one of the highlights of the tour – the red cliffs of Roussillon. Hikers keen to add an extra loup can follow a marked 45 minute walk beneath the ochre cliffs. The village of Roussillon is a pircturesque  delight.

6

Roussillon to Gordes 10 km - 2 hours

Provence Small Group Tours
The renowned Luberon village of Gordes

More iconic countryside, olive groves and vineyards. Look out for wine tasting opportunities along the route. Gordes is one of the most famous villages in France. Perched on a hill, carved from the rock, the village seems to defy gravity. Upon arrival it’s a delight to explore.

7

Gordes to Fontaine de Vaucluse 15km 4 hours

One of the longer hikes on the holiday, the route takes you past the Abbaye de Senanque. The Abbaye, surrounded by lavender fields, and hills is an instagram favourite. Fontaine de Vaucluse is a famous river source. In spring water bubbles up from underground caves and gushes down the river valley.

1

Night 1 Lourmarin

The first night is in the Bastide du Lourmarin Hotel. The Hotel has a swimming pool and spa, and is conveniently located a 1 minute walk from the center of the village.

Lourmarin is classed as one of France’s most beautiful villages. It is filled with shops, cafes, restaurants and art galleries and is an enchanting place to spend time

2

Night 2 Cucuron

A charming Provencal village. Relax on the Hotel d’Etang balcony overlooking the picturesque water basin. It’s a perfect place to escape the crowds that can beset more well known Luberon villages

3

Night 3 Buoux

The Auberge des Seguins is a mountain lodge in the heart of the Luberon. The video gives an excellent overview.

4

Night 4 Apt

Apt is the regional capital of the Luberon. It is a nice town to explore. There are plenty of restaurants and shops, as well as an attractive cathedral. It comes alive on Saturday mornings for one of the region’s largest and least touristy markets. Our usual hotel is a characterful former convent. (Hotel Le Couvent)

5

Night 5 Roussillon

One of the most famous and picturesque village in the Luberon. Roussillon is a delightful base for the night. The streets are pedestrianised and filled with art galleries, shops, and houses with multicoloured ocre inspired facardes. Watching the sunset over the red cliffs is a must. Our preferred hotel is Maison des Ocres

6

Night 6 Gordes

Hôtel Les Romarins à Gordes 278165

Beloved of Parisians, Gordes is proably the most well known of the Luberon hill villages. The terrace of our chosen hotel (Les Romarins) offers unforgettable views of the village. From its renaissance chateau to the steep, narrow, cobbled streets (calades) that wind between houses, the village has an unparalleled allure.

7

Night 7 Fontaine de Vaucluse

The last night of the stay is in the Hotel Poete. Listen to the bubbling waters of the Sorgue river, as you eat a well earned supper. The nearby source of the river, is the fifht largest karst spring in the world and it can dicharge a staggering 700,000,000 cubic meters of water a year.
